The latest experiment says that you cannot be anonymous anymore on your browsing. The activity of your browsing history can be tracked by an algorithm with links on social media. It detects patterns among the group of data and used them to gather information about the user online.

A study has been made by the researchers from Stanford and Princeton university, regarding De-anonymizing Web Browsing Data with Social Networks and presented the paper at the 2017 World Wide Web Conference Perth, Australia.
According to the researchers and DailyMail, your anonymous browsing history can be tracked by linking to social media profiles like Facebook, Twitter and Reddit account.

The browsing history and web caches can be disabled on your web browser which intimated that you are in private mode. However, it is still possible for someone to identify your web activity by associating the IP address at the web server.
The researchers found an algorithm that detects and tracks the user identity, also their web activity from the unprotected social media feeds. It is also found that the biggest companies like Google and Facebook also track users.
The researchers said,
We evaluate this strategy on simulated browsing histories and show that given a history with 30 links originating from Twitter, we can deduce the corresponding Twitter profile more than 50 percent of the time.
When the web browsing information is analyzed from 374 volunteers, it is found that their success rate was higher and identifying 70 percent of them by comparing their web history to millions of public social media feeds.
This is serious, you are not anonymous on your online browsing activity. Take your online anonymity seriously.
